‘TE ASHI KAI SHIN’

John Oxley Room

TE ASHI KAI SHIN Australasian Karate was founded in 1989 by Hanshi Michael Ireland. Our style is based on the Shotokan system. We maintain a very close association with the International Karate Association (I.K.A.) through Grand Master Kancho Te Rupe. We maintain Shotokan principles and techniques with a strong emphasis on the old world values of this system. We encompass discipline, mutual respect, traditional training methods and utilise the Japanese language in delivering our classes. We train in traditional weaponry and learn where and why they originated and how they developed over the decades.

With over 30 years of experience in Martial Arts, Hanshi Michael Ireland is well versed in traditional technique and applies it with a modern approach to seamlessly blend with our day to day lives

“Many of the lessons we learn in the dojo…we carry with us all day…every day” We promote a balance of mental and physical discipline, physical fitness and an active, healthy lifestyle to shape our students into the people you see featured on this site. From the youngest to the oldest student, we ask of you the same”
